There is no doubting that 2020 has been a year that has taken all of us by surprise. In just 10 months, all of our lives have changed drastically one way or the other. We all have adapted to new forms of activities and new patters of behavior. The millions of people affected by the covid-19 all around the world could agree that moving forward, things will never be as we knew them before.
A global pandemic has also shifted the way people see sunglasses. An article published in The New York Times this past September of 2020, makes notice of the possible correlations between people who wear some form of eyewear and those who don’t, and how it results in contracting the virus. It is believed that some, if not most of the viruses, can enter our bodies through the mucous membranes of our eyes. Having said this, how effective might it be to use some sort of shields for the eyes as a protective measure against the coronavirus? There is not much evidence that would allow medical specialist to determine the truthfulness of this hypothesis, but it certainly is a possibility that sunglasses serve as a protective shield against the elements of our environment, thus possibly lowering the risk of contracting covid-19.
